This decree transposed Directive (EEC) n°89-109 of the Council of the European Communities of December 21, 1988 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs. It was repealed on May 10, 2007 by decree n°2007-766, with the exception of articles n°4 and 5 (notably the provisions concerning treatment by ionizing radiation and the provisions for the evaluation of new substances by AFSSA).
