In the absence of a specific regulatory text, the DGCCRF has drawn up sheets for different types of materials, intended primarily for official control departments and laboratories. These sheets specify the criteria and procedures for verifying the suitability of these materials for food contact, and more specifically the procedures for verifying the inertness principle of Article 3 of Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 27, 2004.

.

These sheets are the subject of upstream consultation with representatives of stakeholders (laboratories competent in the field of materials in contact with foodstuffs, manufacturers and processors of materials, food industries, distributors...).

Their publication on the DGCCRF website makes it possible to inform operators, in complete transparency, about certain criteria and modalities that will be used by its services within the framework of official controls.

This specific DGCCRF sheet covers, in particular, paper and cardboard, and coated paper and cardboard. Wood and cork do not fall within its scope.
