This resolution ResAP(2004)3 revised in 2007 (version 2) and in 2009 (version 3) replaces resolution AP(97)1 on ion exchange resins and adsorbents used in food processing. Ion exchange and adsorption resins are synthetic organic macromolecular compounds that can be used in food processing to cause ion exchange or adsorption of food constituents. They do not, however, include cellulose ion exchangers. This resolution describes the requirements that should be met by resins used in the treatment of foodstuffs.
