EU guidelines on conditions and procedures for the import of polyamide and melamine kitchenware originating in or consigned from People's Republic of China and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China (10/06/2011)

This document aims to provide guidance on the application of Regulation (EU) No. 284/2011 of March 22, 2011, which lays down special conditions and detailed procedures for the import of polyamide and melamine cookware originating in or consigned from the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong. In particular, it covers the following points:

• clarification of the applicable provisions of Regulation (EC) No 882/2004 on official control in order to ensure verification of conformity in line with the legal rules concerning food or feedstuffs;
• other legal clarifications;
• guidelines on the implementation of certain provisions for member states and market operators;
• advice on how competent authorities and customs authorities should work together;
• common approach to article sampling and analysis methodology in line with the guidelines published by the Community Reference Laboratory;
• instructions for member states regarding the quarterly reports to be sent to the European Commission, as provided for in Article 9 of Regulation (EU) No. 284/2011.
