This technical guide, which complements Council of Europe Resolution CM/Res(2013)9, is designed to ensure the safety and quality of metal and alloy materials and articles for food contact. The current edition lists the chemical elements used to make metal articles for food contact, and which may be present in certain alloys. It also specifies, where appropriate, the specific release limits (SRLs) set for each element. This new set of documents replaces the previously established guidelines on metals and alloys (originally published on March 9, 2001 and revised on February 13, 2002 under the former Council of Europe Partial Agreement in the Social and Public Health Field).
