On June 30, 2026, the European Commission adopted Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1425 on the rules for calculating, verifying, and reporting data on the recycled plastic content of single-use plastic beverage bottles. The text replaces Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/2683 and introduces a harmonized framework that incorporates chemical recycling processes to complement mechanical recycling.
