Decree No 2025-80 specifies the ban on plastic food containers and grants exceptions for medical structures.
As part of policies to reduce plastics in foodservice, French legislation has set progressive bans. The EGALIM law (Loi n° 2018-938 - article 28) prohibited plastic food containers in school and university canteens, as well as in structures catering for children under the age of six. The AGEC law (LOI n° 2020-105 - article 77) later extended this ban to healthcare establishments serving vulnerable populations, such as maternity and pediatric units.
